Denteon Roland Fixed-Depth Tool Setter - 3D Printed
The original Roland tool setter allows a relatively wide range of acceptable collar positions, making it difficult to install tools at exactly the same stick-out length every time. This matters because tool stick-out directly affects cutting dynamics, surface finish, accuracy, and overall milling consistency.
At Denteon, we believe in eliminating variables wherever possible. That's why we designed a 3D-printable tool setter that references the tool from the shank side and sets the collar depth to exactly 14 mm every time.
We chose 14 mm because it is the maximum engagement depth of the Roland collet. Less engagement reduces rigidity, while more provides no benefit because the collet is no longer gripping the tool. The result is a simple, repeatable setup that maximizes tool support and ensures consistent tool installation from one tool change to the next.
